2A ALL-STAR BASEBALL SERIES
Knappa's Derek Jacobson played a full game at first base and went 2-for-4 at the plate as the West All-Stars defeated the East 3-2 in game one of a doubleheader at Linfield University in McMinnville.
The East evened the series at a game apiece with a 9-5 victory in game two.
Steven Maki had an RBI for the West squad in game two, as Jacobson, the N.W. League Player Of The Year, got the start on the mound. The OIT-bound lefty allowed four hits and four runs with eight strikeouts and five bases on balls in four innings of work, leaving with the game tied at four. Jacobson went 0-for-2 at the plate in the second game and Maki went 0-for-2 in game one.
The two teams, featuring the top 2A senior talent in Oregon, will play again Sunday. The 3A All-Star Series will be played next weekend at Legion Field in Roseburg.
