PAIRINGS SET FOR OJBA DISTRICT 9 TOURNEY

The Knappa Loggers swept a league doubleheader from Seaside Tuesday night to nail down the second seed in this weekend's Junior State district tournament at Astoria. Seaside will be the fourth seed in the 4-team tournament, which starts at 5:00 p.m. Friday and continues through Sunday.

Doug Montgomery's bunt scored Gary Aho with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Knappa took game one 6-5.

Aho picked up the win with two innings in relief of starting pitcher Cody Strickland.

Strickland's 2-run home run highlighted a 6-run first inning for Knappa in game two as the Loggers held off a late comeback for a 9-7 victory.

Maury Dugan started and got the win with five innings of work on the mound. Aho came in to pitch two more innings of relief to earn the save.

Knappa finished the regular season 10-2 in District 9 games and will face number three seed Warrenton at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Aiken Field. Seaside will face top-seeded and unbeaten Astoria Ford at 7:30 Friday. The losers will play an elimination game at 5:00 p.m. Saturday with the winners squaring off at 7:30. Saturday's first semifinal game will be at 2:00 p.m. with championship games at 4:30 and if necessary, 7:00 p.m. The top two teams advance to the OJBA State Tournament in Eugene the following week.
