The Lower Columbia 10-and-under All-Stars have their first tournament this weekend at Western Longview's beautiful facility at John Null Park. LC plays its first game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night, then returns to the field Friday at 4:00 p.m. Pool play concludes Saturday with bracket play continuing into the weekend.
The Lower Columbia Cal Ripken All-Star teams are comprised of players from Astoria, Lewis & Clark, Warrenton, Knappa, the Long Beach Peninsula and Naselle. The 10-and-under All-Star team features Naselle's Sam Scrabeck and Nick Strange and Knappa's Trevon Morgan, all veterans of last year's squad.
The 10-and-under team is coached by Matt Scrabeck, with assistants Nick Strange and Todd Tobey.
After this weekend, the LC 10's head to Dallas, Oregon's La Creole Complex for a tournament next weekend, then its off to Hoquiam for another invitational. The state tournament will be in Newberg the weekend of July 7-9 with regionals sited at Ellensburg, Washington later in July.
