TILLAMOOK TIES SEASIDE

The Seaside Seagulls find themselves in an unfamiliar place this morning-tied for last place in the Cowapa League boys soccer standings.

The fledgling Tillamook Cheesemakers earned a 1-1 draw against the Gulls yesterday at Tillamook, showing the Mooks are ready to compete in their first year of varsity boys soccer. Meanwhile, the Gulls continue to struggle with a young roster sapped of talent.

Tillamook scored first on a rebound goal off a Julian Alcarez free kick in the 16th minute that squeezed through the Seaside wall.

The Gulls were able to answer ten minutes later when Leo Luna drew a foul in the box and Chris Senick converted the resulting penalty kick.

Seaside got deep in Tillamook's end on a number of occasions in the second half but couldn't create a score. John Morgan made one tough save in the second half to preserve the tie.

The Gulls are on the road for two games next week.
