KNAPPA SOFTBALLERS PICK UP FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Danielle Donayri went 3-for-3 with a double and two triples and picked up a win in the circle as the Knappa Loggers defeated the Country Christian Cougars 21-6 in a five-inning 2A Special District 1 victory at Knappa on Tuesday.

Knappa improved to 1-2 in District play with the win and 2-5 overall.

After the Cougars struck for three first inning runs on a two run triple followed by a wild pitch, Knappa countered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on four walks and three hit batters. Chelsea Cameron started the rally by drawing a walk and singled in Cassie West on her second turn at bat to cap the outburst.

The Cougars walked 14 and hit six Knappa batters in the mercy-rule shortened contest. Cameron and Kate Shear each had two hits on the day. Donayri (4 innings pitched) and Cameron (1 inning) combined to strike out nine Cougar batters and walked three, allowing four hits.

The Loggers take on Clatskanie's J.V. team Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Knappa.
