Knappa 11, Warrenton 1 (5 innings)...The Lady Loggers took advantage of six bases on balls to score seven runs in the fifth inning, ending Monday's game at Warrenton by the 10-run mercy rule. The Warriors played the game without starting catcher Brooklyn Campbell and as a result had several players out of position on the infield. Knappa pitcher Danielle Donayri allowed a single hit, striking out six batters with no walks. Knappa had five hits in the game. Emma Bussert had Warrenton's only base hit. Warrenton starting pitcher Chelsea Nearhing struck out 10 batters, but had a wild day with 14 walks and a number of wild pitches. Stacia Holthusen closed out the game on the mound to record the final two outs. Warrenton hosts Rainier for a doubleheader on Friday. Knappa has a home doubleheader with Portland Adventist Tuesday.

It was a big day for some unheralded members of Cowapa League teams as season-best performances have boosted Tillamook and Scappoose to the top of the leaderboard following the first round of the district tournament. Tillamook's Colby Anderson leads the field with a first round 76, one stroke ahead of Seaside's Devan Flukinger, but it was the performance of Tillamook's number four and five golfers that has the Cheesemakers leading the field, with Scappoose close behind thanks to their four and five. Brian Jackson of Scappoose and Jason Dorsey of Tillamook tied for third, each shooting a 79, while Astoria's Alex Ferber and Craig Folgner tied for 5th with 81's, Folgner's a career-best on his birthday. Dorsey entered the tournament as Tillamook's number five golfer, while Jackson was Scappoose's number four. Weston Power's, the Indians fifth golfer shot an 81, while Tillamook number four Marc Lehman shot an 82. The final round of the tournament is today at Gearhart Golf Links, starting at noon. Two teams and the top five individual golfers advance to the state tournament at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond.
