SCHEDULE SNAFU FOR ASTORIA 15'S

The Astoria 15-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars were scheduled to play their first game of the season against Hazel Dell of Vancouver at the Don Rhoads Tournament in Kelso Thursday. Unfortunately, due to an earlier email sent by the tournament organizers, the Astoria coaches thought they weren't playing until today.

Fortunately, a mother paying attention to yesterday's radio broadcast, noticed the discrepancy and alerted the coaches, who were able to reschedule for today.

Astoria will play Hazel Dell at 3:00 p.m. at R.A. Long High School, then follow that with a 6:00 p.m. game against Beaverton at the new Rister Stadium at Tam-O-Shanter Park in Kelso.

Most of the 15-year-old tournament games will be played at Tam-O-Shanter, either on the Kelso High School field or Rister Stadium.

Astoria is in a 3-team pool with Beaverton and Hazel Dell, but will play three pool games. Astoria will play Columbia-Cowlitz at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Rister Stadium which will count toward Astoria's pool record but not Columbia-Cowlitz's. The top two teams from each of the three pools will advance to single elimination play later on Saturday, as well as the two third place teams with the best records.

In Thursday action from the 15-year-old tournament, Longview defeated East County 11-0, East County topped The Dalles 13-3 and The Dalles defeated Lacey 17-2.

Today's schedule:
POOL A: Kelso vs. Port Angeles, 3:30 p.m. at Kelso H.S. Field; Centralia vs. Columbia-Cowlitz, 3:30 p.m. at Rister Stadium; Columbia-Cowlitz vs. Port Angeles, 6:00 p.m. at KHS; Kelso vs. Centralia, 8:30 p.m. at Rister Stadium
