TOUGH TOURNEY FOR LOWER COLUMBIA 10'S

The local 10-year-old baseball All-Stars got an eye-opener at a tournament this weekend in Dallas, struggling against some tough competition from Oregon and Washington.

Lower Columbia was actually held hitless until their third game of the tournament, and third game of the day on a long hot Saturday afternoon.

Upper Rogue blistered L.C. 23-0 in four innings in the first game of the tournament Saturday morning. Immediately afterward, Lower Columbia took on Sandy, falling 13-0. In both games, the L.C. pitchers had trouble throwing strikes, while the hitters were unable to generate any offense.

Trevon Morgan gave Lower Columbia a better effort on the mound and the bats came around in the third game of the day, but Dallas topped the coastal crew 11-4.

In a Sunday elimination game, Lower Columbia picked up a little more offensive support, but Western Longview dominated in a 23-5 victory.

The next tournament action comes at Hoquiam this weekend for the area all-stars. Check the Last Dam Blog later this week for a tournament schedule.
