KENNEWICK WHACKS LOWER COLUMBIA

The Lower Columbia 12-year-old Cal Ripken A All-Stars fell to the Kennewick Americans 9-0 Friday at John Null Park in Longview.

L.C. plays its final pool game Saturday afternoon against Puyallup, then will head to single elimination play at either 5 or 8:00 p.m. against West Linn or Meridian, ID.

Starting pitcher Dalton Kelly held the Americans scoreless through three innings, but Kennewick struck for a pair of home runs in the fourth inning to open the scoring, then added another home run off reliever Ryan Tapio with two outs in the fifth.

According to Kennewick coaches, Lower Columbia was the first team to hold them under ten runs. The Americans, one of two teams representing Kennewick at the Western Longview-hosted tournament, hit 32 home runs as a team at one recent tournament. Kennewick had 10-runned the Black Hills B team in four innings immediately prior to facing Lower Columbia.

The L.C. All-Stars dropped to 5-2 overall with the loss.
