BABE RUTH ROUNDUP-14-yr-old State Quarterfinals

PENDLETON 13, BEAVERTON 1...The Pendleton 14-year-old All-stars scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back. Bryant Tarter went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI's and Jake Talbot was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Isaac Henslee got the win with two innings of scoreless relief for starter Torin Garza, who surrendered the lone Beaverton run in his three innings of work on a Spencer Ross RBI single in the first inning. Pendleton will play SRV Nationals in the first semifinal game at Astoria's Aiken Field on Monday

TRI-COUNTY 9, THE DALLES 1...Jared Huddleston tossed a complete game and leadoff batter Chris Lien went 4-for-5 with two RBI's as Tri-County advanced to the semifinals. The Dalles led 1-0 until the fifth inning, when Tri-County sent 13 men to the plate, scoring eight of their nine runs. Lien led off the inning with a base hit, later scoring on a 2-run single by Huddleston, who nabbed MVP honors. Bryan Holland followed with a 2-run single and Lien came back around with a 2-run single later in the inning. James Stroud's second inning base hit scored Nate Timmons with The Dalles' only run of the game. Timmons went 3-for-3 at the plate.

SRV NATIONALS 5, HARNEY/GRANT 1...Snake River Valley's K.J. Morris tossed a complete game 2-hitter as the Ontario-based All-stars stormed into the state semifinals. Morris overcame early wildness, loading the bases in the first inning on a pair of walks and a hit batter before retiring Christian Lassan on a groudout to short. SRV scored a run in the first when Matt Anthony led off with a single, later scoring on a wild pitch. The Snake River catcher finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a pair of runs scored. Anthony drove in two runs in a 3-run fourth inning when the Nationals took a 4-0 lead, capitalizing on three walks and two hit batters in the inning. Caleb Feist walked and scored on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning for Harney/Grant's only run. Snake River Valley will face Pendleton at 10:00 a.m. in the first semifinal at Aiken Field.
