Astoria 3, Yamhill-Carlton 0...at Yamhill, Sophie DeWitt recorded ten kills and Rachel Gascoigne set 26 assists as the Lady Fishermen won their fifth straight match, fourth in straight sets, to improve to 4-0 in Cowapa League heading into Thursday's first place showdown against Banks.
Rochester 3, Ilwaco 0...The Lady Fishermen dropped to 1-1 in Trico league play. Sophomore setter Charotte Johnson served 21 points with seven aces for Ilwaco, which travels to La Center on Tuesday.
Warrenton 3, Clatskanie 1...The Lady Warriors lacked the killer instinct Tuesday night, but rebounded from a 13-4 game four deficit to dispatch the visiting Tigers. Justine Marxer served 13 consecutive points to close out a 25-6 game two for Warrenton. The Warriors went up 9-4 in game three before a service error started Clatskanie on the comeback trail. The young Tigers gained confidence and momentum as the game went along, coming from behind to take the set 25-23 and continuing that momentum into a hot start in game four. Lesleyanne Hayward led Warrenton with eight kills and Emily Ogren continued her strong net play with nine blocks. Marxer served 29 of 33 for the match with two aces. The Warriors head to the Nestucca Tournament on Saturday.
