Oregon Deaf School 56, Jewell 50...The Jays dropped to 0-3 despite another strong performance from Will Steinweg, who had 26 points and 15 rebounds. Jewell takes on Country Christian on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Ilwaco 44, Ocosta 36...The Lady Fishermen (2-1) got a strong inside effort to defeat the Wildcats as junior post Lanie Kary scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds while Melany Bliss cleared 16 boards to go with 11 points. Ilwaco hosts Naselle Thursday night in a game that will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1230 ESPN.
Jewell 37, Oregon Deaf School 19...The Blue Jays used a strong defensive effort to improve to 3-0 on the season. Michelle Tate and Lucinda Williams each scored 7 points for Jewell and Frankie Dugan had 12 rebounds and seven assists.
