COMETTES SHAKE OFF SLOW START, BEAT TB

Erin Saari flirted with a triple double and Naselle overcame a rough start to defeat Tacoma Baptist 53-48 at Patterson Gymnasium Friday night.

Saari finished with 12 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and four steals while Brandi Keightley contributed 14 points and four steals in the win.

The Crusaders outscored Naselle 15-8 in the first quarter as the Comets struggled at the free throw line. Naselle finished strong, hitting 8-of-11 at the stripe in the final period.

"It was our senior night," said head coach Bob Torppa. "Some of the girls were pretty emotional heading into the game and they came out and outscored us."

The Comets improved to 8-4 in Pacific 2B League play and 11-7 overall with the win. Naselle closes out the regular season with games at N.W. Christian on Tuesday and a makeup game at Tacoma Baptist on Friday.
