HELENA 2-0, CENTRAL BASIN BOUNCES BACK
Helena, Montana came from behind for the second straight day, scoring 15 unanswered runs to defeat Douglas, Wyoming 16-6 in a battle of day one winners at the Pacific Northwest 13-15-year-old Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Astoria.
The Montana champions got three consecutive 2-out hits in the third inning, including a triple to the base of the wall 368 feet from home plate by centerfielder Kyle Conway, to pull within 6-5.
In the fourth, 15 men came to the plate against three Douglas pitchers as Helena piled on 11 runs, including a 2-run double by Conway, who finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Starting pitcher Kyle McLean went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI's. Reliever Nick Fisher got the win, pitching two scoreless innings in the 5-inning, mercy rule-shortened game.
Tim Fosmo hit a two run home run and scored two runs for Douglas and catcher Jake Marcus was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.

In the second game of the day, Central Basin built an 8-0 lead on the way to an 8-4 victory over Josephine County.
Starting pitcher Case Hinkins took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before running out of gas as Josephine County scored four runs to cut the lead in half. Mason Lotz pitched two innings of 1-hit ball to close out the victory.
Centerfielder Brett Robinson went 2-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in for Central Basin. Trevor Hyer went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
Taylor Bars struck out struck out seven batters in a 3 2/3 inning relief stint for Josephine County and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and an RBI.
