ASTORIA WILL SEND TWO 13-YR-OLD TEAMS TO DISTRICTS

The Astoria 13-year-old Babe Ruth "A" and "B" teams squared off at Aiken Field Thursday night, with the A's winning 5-1.

The "A Team" got all of the runs they needed on a 2-run double by Jesse Board in the first inning off "B" starter Karl Oman (Oman qualified for the A team but was unable to fulfill schedule requirements).

Dylan Glover got the start on the mound for the A's and recorded five strikeouts in two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Reese Johnson tossed two hitless innings of relief with one strikeout and one walk to earn the win.

The B team, coached by Dr. Larry Goza, scored its lone run in the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk to Alex Eterno scoring Rain Goza, who had led off the inning with a single.

Both teams will compete in the district tournament in Portland, which begins on Wednesday, July 5th. The B squad plays in a tournament at Longview's Roy Morse Park this weekend. Specific game times and opponents were not available as of last night.
