EAST DOMINATES ON DAY ONE

It was a clean sweep for Eastern Oregon teams with a pair of big upsets on the first day of the North Oregon 14-year-old Babe Ruth State Tournament.

Snake River Valley Nationals overcame an early 6-0 deficit, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to knock off heavily favored Beaverton 9-8.

Harney/Grant grabbed an early lead with five 1st-inning runs on the way to an 8-3 upset victory over 2-time regional qualifier Astoria.

Four Pendleton pitchers combined on a 2-hit, 7-0 shutout of The Dalles and Tri-County racked up 14 hits on the way to a 10-5 victory over S.E. Portland.
