Kelso "Celebrate Freedom" Babe Ruth Tournament: The Kelso 14-year-old All-Stars, defending Southern Washington champions, defeated Astoria's 15-year-olds 12-2 in the opening game of pool play. In two other games Friday night, Longview topped Olympia-Tumwater 10-1 and Kelso's 15-year-olds topped Lacey 12-0.
4th of July Blast Tournament at Roy Morse Park in Longview:The Astoria 13-year-old B team lost to East (Clark) County 11-7 in the first round of pool play. Longview defeated East County 10-0, South Thurston topped Adna 14-4 and Kelso defeated Olympia 6-1 in other opening day action.

10-12-year-old All-Stars: Playing at a double-elimination tournament in Castle Rock, the Lower Columbia A team defeated Sandy B 2-0. Conor Harber struck out six batters in two innings and Dalton Kelly struck out five batters in his two innings of work. Harber and Ryan Johnson each hit doubles on a slow day with the bats. The Lower Columbia B team, playing at the same tournament, lost their opening game to Castle Rock-Toutle Lake. No score was reported.
11-year-old All-Stars: Lower Columbia had the misfortune of opening a tournament at Western Longview's John Null Park against the host team, falling 10-0 in the first game of pool play. L.C. takes on Mason County at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
