WILDCATS SWEEP FINAL SERIES

Ensuring a winning record for the summer, the Seaside Wildcats swept a paif of games this weekend over the Southern Oregon Riverdogs, winning 18-8 in seven innings on Saturday and 10-4 in nine innings on Sunday.

The Wildcats finish the summer with a 26-21 overall record, 13-15 in Pacific International League competition.

The teams combined for 33 hits in Saturday night's slugfest. Seaside fell behind 4-0 and 8-4 early in the game, but an 8-run third inning, featuring home runs by Mike Rector, Robert Hitchens and a 3-run shot by Aaron Svarthumle, gave the Wildcats the lead for good. Seaside ended up with six home runs in the game, which was shortened to seven innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Matt Webb hit two home runs, finishing with three RBI's and three runs scored. Adam White homered as part of a 4-for-4 day, scoring three runs.

Hitchens and White also homered in Sunday's win. Aaron Nelson's three run home run in the second inning gave Seasie a 6-2 lead and the Wildcats led for the remainder of the game.

In both games this weekend, several pitchers got opportunities to bat and play in the field. At the end of Sunday's game, every pitcher was in a position on the field and Matt Hendryx was on the mound, recording the final out of the season on a comebacker.
