CROSS COUNTRY-Ilwaco

Fighting a chest cold, Ilwaco's Kelly Freese managed a 4th place finish, traversing the Millersylvania Park course in 20:43 at a meet hosted by Northwest Christian.

The Navigators' Joscelyn Minton set a new course record, winning the girls race in 19:07 to lead Northwest Christian to the girls team title with 25 points. Two other complete girls teams included La Center (40) and Rainier (67).

In the boys race, Ilwaco was led by Steven Berglund's 6th place finish. Bellevue Christian's Nathanael Sleight won with a time of 17:10, 49 seconds ahead of Berglund. Northwest Christian and Bellevue Christian tied for the points lead at 66, with NWC winning the tiebreaker. Ilwaco finished sixth with 158 points, behind Kalama (82), La Center (102) and Rochester (118). Nine full boys teams and 88 runners competed.

Ilwaco's next meet is at Castle Rock next week.
