ASTORIA BREAKS SCORELESS STREAK IN LOSS

The Astoria Lady Fishermen saw a 480-minute scoreless streak come to an end as Maren Holyoak found the back of the net in the second half of a 4-1 loss at Valley Catholic Wednesday.

The Valiants got a pair of first half goals from sophomore forward Meghan Blood to take a 2-0 lead at the half. Freshman midfielder Megan Gabourel scored in the 62nd minute to put the Valiants up 3-0 before Holyoak, a senior forward, got the Fishermen on the board a minute later. Gabourel added a second goal with three minutes remaining in the contest to seal the victory for Valley Catholic, which kept pace with O.E.S. atop the District 4 Standings, improving to 4-0-0 in district and 8-2-0 overall.

Oregon Episcopal 9, Seaside 0...O.E.S. got a hat trick plus three assists from Jessica Tsao and another three goals from Emma Brack in a dominating 9-0 victory over Seaside. The Aardvarks lead the district with an unbeaten record, outscoring opponents 30-0 in four district games. O.E.S. improved to 9-1-1 and has a 50-6 edge in scoring against all of its opponents this year. The Seagulls dropped to 0-4 in district and 5-6-0 overall...In other District 1 soccer action, Yamhill-Carlton cruised past Rainier 7-0.
