FOOTBALL FLASH-Thursday night

The Astoria Fishermen improved to 7-0 with a 49-12 victory over Banks on homecoming night. Jordan Poyer had two long TD runs and a TD pass to Nathan Stinnett, who also rushed for a touchdown. Tom Jawarski, starting in the backfield for the injured Andy Murray, returned a kickoff and an interception for TD's. Banks quarterback Gabe Linehan thew two touchdowns for the Braves, who dropped to 0-7 with the loss.

Cody Greenwood returned a kick 84 yards for a touchdown, one of the few highlights for the Jewell Blue Jays in a 70-16 loss to Perrydale.

Tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter, the Yamhill-Carlton Tigers scored 28 unanswered points to defeat Tillamook 42-14. Seaside and Scappoose play Friday night at Broadway Field with a large crowd expected to be on hand.
