FRIDAY ROUNDUP

BASEBALL
Knappa 11-0, Gaston 1-5 (Game One, 5 innings)...Gary Aho tossed a 5-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts and broke a 1-1 tie with a third inning grand slam as the Loggers defeated the Greyhounds 11-1 in game one of Friday's 2A Special District 1 doubleheaer. The junior lefthander went 2-for-3 at the plate with five runs batted in and a pair of stolen bases. Freshman Cody Strickland went 2-for-3 with double and two RBI's and two runs scored and junior Nate West went 2-for-3 with a double. The Loggers scored seven runs in third inning on the way to the mercy-rule victory. In game two, Gaston ace pitcher Cody Fassold dominated with 15 strikeouts and one walk in a 2-hit complete game victory. Karac Anderson took the loss for Knappa and had one of the Loggers hits. Aho had the other hit and stole his 21st consecutive base. Aho has hit in every game for Knappa this year and has a .658 batting average through 11 games. Knappa (2-3 2A Special District 1, 7-4 overall) hosts league favorite Portland Christian on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Royals lost to 6A Lincoln 5-4 Friday in a game played at P.G.E. Park.
Seaside 13-7, Clatskanie 3-12 (Game One, 5 innings)...Jon Giztavich homered for the second straight day, a walk-off 2-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning to cap a 7-run rally and give the Gulls a mercy-rule 13-3 victory over the Tigers in game one of yesterday's doubleheader. Clatskanie took a 7-0 lead in game two before Seaside rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The pitching-strapped Seagulls were unable to hold off the Tigers, who earned the split with a 12-7 win. Ross Knutsen and Mark Thysell each had a pair of doubles on the day and Will Beatty had three hits for Seaside.

SOFTBALL
Knappa 8-5, Gaston 16-4...The Greyhounds scored 11 unearned runs in the fifth and six innings to come from behind for a 16-8 victory over the Loggers in game one. Catcher Kate Shear had two doubles and a triple for the Loggers in the loss. Knappa rebounded to earn the split with a 5-4 victory in game two as Shear drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly and Kelsey Patterson scored two runs. Danielle Donayri pitched a complete game with three strikeouts and three walks, allowing seven hits in the victory after taking the loss in game one. Gaston scored a run in the seventh and had the tying run on third base before Donayri struck out Amber Richter for the final out of the game. The Loggers (2-3, 5-6) travel to Portland Lutheran for a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Warrenton 10, Seaside 5 (10 innings)...After Seaside tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Warrenton went on a hitting streak in the tenth, scoring five times to pull out the extra-inning win at Norway Field. Chelsea Neahring went the distance in the circle for the Warriors with nine strikeouts and eight walks and Ashley Poole, Brandi Jasmin and Emma Bussert each had three hits for the Warriors, who open Lewis & Clark League play at Vernonia on Tuesday.
