WARRIORS ELIMINATED BY SOUTHRIDGE

Errors proved costly to Warrenton's cause once again, as the 3A Warriors fell to 6A Southridge 4-2 in a a season-ending loss at the Oregon Junior Baseball Association Division I State Tournament in Eugene.

Southridge capitalized on three Warrior errors to score two runs in the second inning, taking a 3-1 lead. Lefthander Alex Brown took care of the rest, completing a 5-hitter for the win, outdueling Warrenton's Eric Gantenbein, who also surrendered only five hits.

Gantenbein singled and scored on a 2-out base hit by Bubba Massey to give Warrenton an early 1-0 lead in the first. Massey doubled in the fifth, setting up Warrenton's second run, a sacrifice fly by Buddy Davis to score Tyler Collier, who had walked.

The Warriors completed the summer with a surprising 17-8 overall record with a relatively inexperienced team.
