BOYS SOCCER-Seaside 5, North Marion 4

The Seagulls boys came away with the win in a high-scoring back-and-forth affair in Aurora.

After a flurry of offensive activity in the first half of play, Alec Carlson ended a nearly 30 minute non-scoring drought, taking a through ball from Sal Oros to score in the 75th minute, breaking a 4-all tie to give the Seagulls the victory.

"It wasn't World Cup quality, I'll tell you," said Seaside head coach Jon Broderick, "but it was about as good as we could hope for for our team at this point."

North Marion's Jesus Hernandez, Jr. recorded a hat trick in the first half, his third goal coming on a penalty kick in the final minute of the half after an inadvertent handball in the Seaside box. That tied the game at three. The Huskies' Pavil Cam gave North Marion the lead with a goal early in the second half, before the Seagulls' Justin Krieger countered in the 48th minute, levelling the match at four with a score off a cross from the left side by Carlson.

Seaside grabbed a 3-1 lead in the first half after Hernandez got North Marion on the board early with a goal in the 4th minute. Anders Benson tied the game at one with a penalty kick after Chris Senick was fouled in the box. Senick scored shortly thereafter to give the Gulls the lead, then Will Clark tallied on a long, lofting shot in the 16th minute, before Hernandez' back-to-back goal tied the game at the half.

The Gulls begin league play at Tillamook Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
