At Oyehut, the Ilwaco boys placed second and Ilwaco's Kelly Freese won the girls' race in a meet featuring six schools. Ocosta had the only complete girls' team at the meet while the senior Freese paced the field with a time of 21:19.
Stephen Berglund led the Ilwaco boys contingent with a time of 17:59, 15 seconds behind winner Tyler Bremer of Elma. The 2A Eagles won the meet with a team score of 30, followed by Ilwaco and Rochester with 56 points. Ilwaco's sixth runner had a better time to break the tie. Carl Jackson placed fourth for the Fishermen with a time of 18:26.
Ilwaco next competes at the Lewis & Clark Trail Races, hosted by Toledo next Tuesday.
