FOOTBALL FLASH

Unbeaten Astoria overcame the loss of both starting running backs and a pile of penalties to hold off Seaside 21-19 in a thrilling Clatsop Clash Friday night.

Clatskanie's Luke Meyer rushed for 260 yards and four TD's as the Tigers racked up nearly 500 yards on the ground in a 48-32 victory over Warrenton the Lewis & Clark League opener for both teams.

Knappa got a big performance from Mike Fulton and a key defensive stand late in the game to preserve a 22-17 upset victory at Corbett in the Northwest League opener for both teams.

Ilwaco scored on its first five possessions to break into the win column with a 48-27 victory at White Salmon.

Naselle's Nick Hines rushed for 142 yards and four TD's to lead the Comets to a 54-6 shellacking of N.W. Christian.
