VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP-Thursday

ASTORIA def. Yamhill-Carlton 26-24, 25-16, 25-12...The Tigers had Astoria on the ropes in the first game, but the Lady Fishermen fought off two match points to win the set, then took the game with a 3-games sweep. Wendi Agalzoff put away an overkill and had a key block to help Astoria turn the tables in game one. The senior middle hitter finished with a team-high 15 kills. Junior Sophie DeWitt added 13 kills. The 4th-ranked Lady Fishermen join Tillamook and five other teams in the top ten, including top-ranked North Bend and 2nd-ranked Estacada at the Seaside Varsity Invitational Tournament on Saturday.
Stevenson def. Ilwaco 25-13, 25-14, 25-21...The Lady Fishermen had the Trico-League leading Bulldogs tied at 16 in game three before falling to Stevenson at home. Ilwaco travels to Ocosta for a tournament Saturday.
Warrenton def. Portland Adventist 25-13, 25-14, 25-18...Jordane Marxer and Ashley Poole had four kills each and the Warriors served 68-for-70 in a 3-game win at PAA to improve to 7-2 overall.
Knappa def. Faith Bible 17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21...Knappa picked up its second N.W. League win, avenging an earlier loss to Faith Bible.
Naselle def. Raymond 25-21, 25-13, 25-17...Naselle put together its best all-around performance to open Pacific 2B League play with a key road win. Junior outside hitter Sylvia Herrold had a match-high 20 kills for the Comets.
