LOWER COLUMBIA 10'S FALL IN STATE OPENER
In their first pool play game at the North Oregon State 10-and-under Cal Ripken Tournament, Lower Columbia lost to Sandy 6-1 at Oppenlander Fields in West Linn.
It was a close game into the sixth and final inning, when Sandy put three runs on the board to account for the final margin.
Courage Beatty pitched five strong innings for Lower Columbia and Josh Seguirant had two triples and a run batted in. Nick Owens doubled and second baseman Ryker Helmerson and shortstop Fritz Fremstad played strong defense up the middle.
Lower Columbia's next game will be at 6:00 p.m. against the West Linn host team.
