ASTORIA FORD WRAPS TOURNEY WITH MORE FIREWORKS

Jordan Poyer and Matt Brause hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning as the Astoria Ford Fishermen sprinted to a 7-0 lead on the way to a 13-4 victory over Seaside in the final game of the Astoria Ford 4th of July Tournament at Aiken Field.

Poyer, who hit homers in each of the three games of the tourney, pitched four innings for the victory. The Gulls scored all four of their runs in the final innings against reliever Hans Lund. Mitch DeGandi homered for the Gulls and offered strong relief on the mound for the third straight day.

Milwaukie overcame a 5-0 deficit to defeat McKay 8-6, completing an unbeaten run through the tournament.

Astoria returns to Aiken Field Thursday night with a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader against Warrenton. Both games will count in the North Coast District standings.
