L.C. FIRST IN POOL AFTER DAY 1 AT DALLAS

The Lower Columbia 12-and-under Cal Ripken All-stars defeated Seaside 11-0 in five innings, then edged West Linn 12B 2-1 on the first day of the North Oregon State Tournament at Dallas.

Lower Columbia plays Newberg today at 10:00 a.m., with the favored locals likely taking the top seed into this afternoon's quarterfinal round.

Seaside rebounded from the opening game loss to defeat Newberg 6-4 Friday. Seaside faces West Linn 12B this morning in its final pool play game.
