JUNIOR STATE ROUNDUP

Warrenton 11, KNAPPA 3...Tyler Collier raised his summer batting average over .700, going 4-for-5 with at triple and four runs batted in as the Warriors defeated the Loggers at Knappa. Dan Wolfe pitched a complete game 3-hitter, allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts and one walk. Buddy Davis went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Knappa's Gary Aho had two of the Loggers' three hits, a double and a home run in his first two at bats. Aho took the loss. Warrenton hosts Rainier for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader Thursday

Seaside 12, RAINIER 9...Alec Carlson went 2-for-4 with three RBI's and picked up the win on the mound as the Gulls defeated the Columbians in Rainier. Jon Giztavich also had a pair of hits for the Gulls, who host Astoria Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

ASTORIA 18, Ilwaco 0...Matt Brause and Hans Lund retired all 15 batters they faced as Astoria battered Ilwaco at Aiken Field in the battle of the Fishermen. Brause struck out four batters and Lund had one K in the combined perfect game. Offensively, Astoria capitalized on numerous walks. Jordan Poyer went 2-for-2 with four runs scored and Oscar Carriere had the only extra base hit, a double, going 2-for-2.

ASTORIA 4, Ilwaco 1...Jordan Poyer pitched six innings of 1-hit ball as Astoria maximized four hits to sweep its doubleheader against Ilwaco. Poyer struck out six batters and allowed no earned runs, adding two RBI's offensively. The first three Astoria runs were scored on sacrifices. Poyer's squeeze bunt in the first inning scored Adam Koehnke, who had doubled and advanced on a passed ball. In the second inning, Joey Dursse walked and scored on a Hans Lund sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Jared Rummell singled and scored on a Brad Sarpola sacrifice bunt. Poyer plated Koehnke in the third inning with an RBI single. Ilwaco starting pitcher Anthony Wirkkala tossed a complete game 4-hitter with six strikeouts and two bases on balls and had Ilwaco's only hit, scoring on a double play in the second inning. Ilwaco heads to Warrenton Friday for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader.
