WARRIORS SWEEP ILWACO
The Warrenton Warriors took two from Ilwaco in a non-league doubleheader at Huddleston Field Saturday, winning 6-2 in game one and 11-1 in game two.
Buddy Davis picked up a complete game in the first game, outdueling Ilwaco ace Anthony Wirkkala, who scored the two Fishermen runs on a 2-run homer. Eric Gantenbein countered with a 2-run homer for the Warriors in the third inning.
Davis allowed just three hits, struck out six and walked one.
Davis, Dan Wolfe, Bubba Massey and Tyler Collier all had doubles with Collier going 2-for-3 in the game.
Gantenbein pitched two no-hit innings in game two, giving way to Brandon Slaughter who picked up the win with two innings of relief. Nathan Massey made his mound debut in the fifth, allowing a walk, but got an inning-ending double play to escape unscathed.
Massey continued his hot hitting with another double, going 2-for-3 with three RBI's.
The Warriors improved to 11-4 on the summer season, heading into Tuesday's game at Knappa. Ilwaco will travel to Astoria for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
