NASELLE HOSTS CAL RIPKEN STATE TOURNEY
The combined North Oregon 11/12B Cal Ripken State Tournament gets underway this morning in Naselle, with eight games on two different fields starting at 10:30 a.m.
The top 12B team at the tournament will head to the 12A state tournament in Dallas next weekend, while the top 11-year-old team earns an automatic regional tournament berth. Also, should one of the 11-year-old teams win the overall tournament, they too would qualify for the 12A state tournament at Dallas.
Both of the host teams are in action this morning as Lower Columbia 11 takes on Dallas 12B and Lower Columbia 12B faces Newberg 12B. The Lower Columbia teams hit the field again at 3:30 p.m. with the 11-year-olds facing the West Linn 11's and the 12B's taking on one of two West Linn 12B teams.
There will also be games at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. today.
Lower Columbia and West Linn are the only 11-year-old teams at the tournament, so the winner of this afternoon's game will likely clinch a regional berth.
