80-POINT SWING LEADS TO LOGGERS FIRST WIN
Embarassed in a 41-0 loss to Rainier in opening week, the Knappa Loggers completely turned things around against Neah-Kah-Nie, winning 40-0 in their home opener.
Senior running back Steven Bokor had a huge night, rushing for 193 yards on 11 carries with four touchdowns, including a 90-yard TD run in the first quarter.
The Loggers rushed for 434 yards in the game, which began with a 60-yard touchdown run by freshman Teevan Klauser on the first play from scrimmage.
"Our line just dominated their line," said assistant coach and offensive coordinator Jeff Miller. "They had a hard time with Bokor's speed. Even in that Rainier game when we got blown away, he would have caught anybody's eye."
The Loggers were so effective running the ball that they did not attempt a single pass. The only two pass plays called ended in sacks.
The Loggers cause was also assisted by seven Pirate turnovers. Klauser intercepted two passes, while rushing for 90 yards on nine carries.
"We had a lot of freshmen really step up and play well this week," said Miller. "It's always tough when you are relying on freshmen, but they did a great job for us."
Mike Fulton, still hampered by a groin injury suffered in week one, added 73 yards on ten carries, including a three yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Eight different Loggers players carried the ball in the game.
The Loggers, now 1-1, play their third straight 3A Lewis & Clark League opponent when they host Vernonia next Friday.
